The Fordham Road Streetscape Master Plan is a comprehensive study of Fordham Road’s streetscape initiated by the Fordham Road BID and completed by the architectural firm The RBA Group. The Streetscape Master Plan provides an in-depth analysis on the current conditions of Fordham Road’s streetscape, highlighting both the assets and obstacles. Most importantly, the Master Plan provides a cohesive array of short and long term streetscape improvement projects specifically designed for the Fordham Road corridor.
The Fordham Road BID and The RBA Group collaborated for over five months on the completion of the Master Plan. The Fordham Road community, including business and property owners, were highly recommended to contribute suggestions and concerns for the Master Plan. A public design workshop was held on March 26, 2008 from 6-8PM at the Bronx Library Center to listen to and collect the suggestions of the community. Over 75 people, including local business and property owners, residents and area community organizations, attended this public design workshop to discuss potential streetscape improvements for Fordham Road. Representatives from the BID and the design firm, The RBA Group, gave a power point presentation on current conditions and potential measures for improvements. All attendees were given surveys to complete and the survey was also made available on the BID’s website.
Copies of the Fordham Road Streetscape Master Plan will be distributed to relevant City agencies and local government representatives. The BID will begin to implement some of the key short term development projects outlined in the Master Plan while simultaneously seeking funds for the long term projects.
